WALALA x PLAY

How often in your adult life do you sit and wonder what it would be like to be a child for the day or just an afternoon well wonder no longer, I have the answer. Camille Walala’s installation at the Now Gallery is a colourful, mirrored maze, yes I said maze!

WALALA x PLAY is a labyrinth of corridors, small spaces, mirrors and colour, so much colour. Other than just running around getting lost in the maze and obviously taking awesome Boomerangs, you can solve the inconsistencies within the images a bit like a spot the difference. What at first may seem like an identical reoccurring pattern once you look deeper you will spot the anomaly and once you found one you want to find them all.

Camille Walala’s use of colour, geometric shapes and bold patterns cannot help but fill you with happiness and positive vibes, especially during this so called summer we are having.

It may be the first time you’re hearing Camille Walala’s name but it is highly unlikely that it is the first time you are seeing her work she is sprouting about everywhere; Harrods, Topshop, Swatch just to name a few. Since graduating from Brighton University with a degree in Textile Design, Camille set up camp in 2009 in East London and started building what we know and love today.

If you are like me and have a little sprog running around your legs and struggle to find fun things to do that don’t just involve other screaming children and that weird funky smell that comes with soft play this is your place. Darcy had an absolute ball she ran around, laughed and even bumped her head on the mirrors a few times (toddlers space awareness fault not Camille Walala’s design).

I haven’t even told you the best bit yet… It’s completely free!

The installation is running until the 24th September so if you haven’t been yet go go go!

Travelling - North Greenwich is the closest tube station and for those with buggies, it has a lift from platform to entrance.
